Do you know about the = shortcut? It’s probably the most useful command in Alexandria.

When you have a patron and an item current in Circulation, the = command performs the current mode for that patron and item.

The most common example is checkout. If you are in Check Out mode, = will check the Current Item out to the Current Patron.

Often you will be scanning the item barcode, and that automatically performs the current action, but if you have used Item or Patron Lookup, for example, the checkout doesn’t happen automatically, and = gives you a way to quickly connect that patron and item.
