Tip for: 09.09.15
Welcome back to Tip of the Week! Have you looked at the Extras area of Preferences and realized you don’t know what these features are, or how to set them up? Look forward to some explanation in the next few Tips.
Alexandria partners with Baker & Taylor, a leading supplier of books, multimedia, and digital information services for libraries and retailers. Learn how to set up your Extras Preferences.
Note: The following Tip applies to both version 6 and 7 of Alexandria.
To set up Baker & Taylor with Alexandria:
- From Tools, open Preferences.
- Go to the Extras area.
- Select Baker & Taylor from the list on the left.
- Check the box to Enable Baker & Taylor.
- Save the preference.
When you buy books from Baker & Taylor, you will receive MARC records for your items. Import these records in Alexandria using the Import module, and the items will be available in your catalog.
For easy access to the Baker & Taylor website from Circulation:
- Go to the Baker & Taylor Extras Preference.
- Fill in the Vendor URL. (e.g. http://schoolselection.btol.com/)
- Save the preference.
- In Circulation, click on the action menu in the Current Item pane.
- Under Vendors, select Baker & Taylor.
To find out more, click on the help icon in the top right corner of the Baker & Taylor preference. This should open the corresponding page in the v6 Wiki or v7 Support Center.
