Tip for: 09.12.16

Have you wondered where to find Keyword searches in Alexandria Researcher?

The keyword search is hidden in plain view—it’s called Smart Search, and it’s our algorithm for locating items based on titles, authors, subjects, and more. Like with Google, you can usually type your search term here and find what you need.

Smart Search will place more importance on fields like titles and authors. If for example you want to find books with “Golden” awards, using Smart Search may return too many results with “Golden” in the title or as a subject. In that case, you’ll want to (v7) change the search type to Awards or (v6) use the pre-search Filter to set the Awards dropdown menu.

Don’t forget that you can also set filters after you perform the search, to narrow down your results.
