Import
The following settings are used when adding Mackin records to your database. Alexandria checks for new purchases to import on a daily basis.
Use Policy Mapping
. When this setting is enabled, during import, When checked, Mackin records will be
handled imported according to your Call Number Policy mapping, rather than the
simple Policy policies for Printed
/, eBook
/, and Audiobook Materials settings described below
. Also, when enabled, the Policy for Printed/eBook/Audiobook Materials controls will be disabled.
View Preferences
. Clicking on View Preferences acts as This is a shortcut to your Policy Mapping preferences.
Policy for Printed Materials
. The policy selected from this drop-down menu will be used for Mackin printed materials imported into Alexandria
; default . Default is Standard Item.
If
you selected Use Policy Mapping (above) is checked, this setting will be disabled.
Title
Match Sensitivity Update Matching for Printed Materials
. Use this drop-down menu to select how your printed titles will be matched:
- ISBN OR LLCN (default)
- ISBN OR LCCN & Title Call Number
- Title & Author & Medium
- Title & Author & Medium & Title Call Number
- Copy Barcode
between Loose, Normal, Strict; default is Normal.Enable Call Number Matching for Printed Materials. When checking for matching titles on import, an item's Call Number is taken into consideration; for those who require it, this option will disable that behavior. In most cases, COMPanion recommends leaving the call number matching criteria enabled (default). Centralized Catalog databases that are not utilizing title call numbers (due to differences in shelving between branch locations) may want to disable this option to avoid the creation of duplicate title records that vary only by call number.
Set Copy Status to In-Processing
. This sets the copy status of all Mackin
items item records being imported to In Processing. Later, you can run an automatic utility to change the copy status to Available. This is convenient when Mackin items are imported into Alexandria, but not ready for general circulation.
Policy for eBook Materials
. The policy selected from this drop-down menu will be used for Mackin eBook records imported into Alexandria; default is Standard Item. If you selected Use Policy Mapping (above), this setting will be disabled.
