Getting Started
How helpful was this page?
For specific patron-facing areas of Alexandria and certain styles, we partially comply with WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). All components of Researcher (except Search and Bulletins), Self-Service, Activity, and Offline Mode are accessibility-friendly.
Here are some noteworthy accessibility features in every patron-facing area:
- Keyboard-only access with a logical, cycle-back tabbing order
- Several ways to find pages (URL, through Researcher or Tools, and Explore panes)
- Clear headings and labels
- Visible and clear keyboard focus
- Consistent menus, icons, and buttons
- Suggested fixes when users make errors
- Plain text instead of images of text
Recommendations
To make Alexandria even more accessibility-friendly for your patrons, we suggest following these recommendations:
Use Researcher styles other than Seafoam.
Use Scout rather than Search.
Use Chrome as your internet browser.
If you use Safari and need to turn on tabbing navigation, go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and make sure Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage is checked.
