We request that your network tech or whoever is responsible for assigning or reserving IP addresses and adding records to the DNS server complete this form. It is important that we get the correct information as charges can be applied to the creation of new security certificates if the supplied information is incorrect.

Thank you for purchasing the COMPanion Network Receipt Printer.

Please review our Receipts Support Center page for important information on how these printers work with web browsers and Alexandria printer settings. For KeepnTrack, see the Workstation Management Support Center page.

Current standards for security don’t allow mixed content. That means all parts of a secure connection must be secure, including sounds, text, images, and printing.

In order to make the printing aspect secure, which is required because your connection to Alexandria or KeepnTrack is also secure, we need some very specific information about your network and DNS. Please fill out this form individually for each printer that needs a certificate:

Alexandria 7 Conversion Review Agreement

Details on the Conversion

Converting your data to Alexandria 7 is not a straightforward process; your data is being converted to a different program. This means not everything will be exactly the same as what you’re currently accustomed to.

If you’re converting from an older version of Alexandria (v5 or v6), please make sure to review the differences between the programs so you are familiar. These can be found under the

Open Links in New Window

See What Changed

section of the Switch to Alexandria 7 online Support Center page.

If you’re converting from another library information system, be aware that only your items will convert unless otherwise specified in your order. Also, catalog holdings could change due to the possible use of different MARC tags/holdings standards. Customer Support can assist you with importing patrons.

Conversion Review Period and What We Will Do For You

Due to the complexity of the conversion, we are requiring our customers to review the work performed for up to but not longer than 2 weeks after the conversion completion date.

This allotted 2 weeks should be enough time to review the data in Alexandria and bring any questions or issues to our Support and Conversion Teams for review.

The sooner we know about possible issues that might have occurred during the conversion process the better. Correcting any issues past 2 weeks can cause the fix to become increasingly more difficult to address and correct (if even possible at all). We will do everything within our capabilities during the 2 week review period to assist with any questions or fix any problems that are due to errors during the conversion process and not due to limitations of the compatibility of the two programs.

If issues arise past the 2-week review period, customers will be accountable for making corrections themselves or will have the option to pay for database cleanup and possibly restoration or a new conversion.

It is important to be diligent and detailed in reviewing your data after the conversion process has been completed.

What You Need To Do

Since we are not proprietors of your data, we do not know how it should look or how it has been set up. This means we can do basic database verifications as far as looking at number totals. It is up to you to review the details of your data after the conversion and ask questions or bring up possible issues to be addressed.

Before the conversion, please review the following items:

  • If you’re converting from an older version of Alexandria...
    • Review and become familiar with the

      Open Links in New Window

See What Changed and Things to Do tabs

of our Switch to Alexandria 7 Support Center page.

    • Understand that you are responsible for recreating:

      • Preferences

      • Saved Reports

      • Saved Utilities

      • Explore Panes

  • Self-Hosted Customers
    • Review and become familiar with the

      Open Links in New Window

      Alexandria Install Requirements.

    • Understand that running Alexandria on a server and in an environment that meets the requirements of the program is essential for smooth operation of the program and limited interruptions in system use.
  • Bring any questions or issues to the attention of COMPanion Customer Support or the Conversions Team within 2 weeks after the conversion completion date.
By completing this form, you are hereby acknowledging that you have read and understand the information listed in this document and you are aware of the limitations of the conversion and are agreeing to the specified timeframe for conversion work review period.

First, we need the IP address that will be reserved for the printer (must be the static IP assigned in the COMPanion Network Receipt Printer).

Example: 192.168.10.25

School, Institution, or SitePrinter IP AddressPrinter IP Addresstrue

Next, we need you to assign and provide us with the printer’s name and domain. This is optional, but we highly recommend you use them. A name and domain make your printer easier to identify and remember. Our printer preferences are browser-based, meaning you’ll need to re-enter some information if the cache is cleared. And it’s a lot easier to remember a name/domain than your IP when filling things out!

Your printer name can be anything you want, though we recommend making it easy to remember. One common method is to have the printer’s name reflect its location, such as “frontdesk” or “supplyroom”. You can use characters that follow the LDH rule (letters a-z, digits 0-9, hyphen). Meanwhile, the domain will be your school or institution’s domain on your network.

Example: A printer name of printer1 and a domain of yourschool.com would combine as printer1.yourschool.com. This, or your IP address, is what you’ll need when configuring your printer to work with Alexandria or KeepnTrack.

If a printer name and domain can't be assigned for some reason, you can leave these blank. You’ll use your IP address instead. But you may need to allow your browser a security exception to print.

Lastly
, we need the email address of the IT team member who should receive the certificate and key files.
