An operator username and login password are required to access Alexandria every time the program is launched. All login attempts are recorded on your patron Transaction Log.

To log in to Alexandria:

Alexandria is designed to work best in the most recent two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari. Please make sure your browser is up to date.

You can access the different Alexandria modules by adding the name of the module to your login URL.The link you'll use to log in depends on a variety of factors based on how your library is set up. Follow the steps for your particular installation below.

Locate your library's IP address in Circulation > Special tab > System Info and Tools > Administration > Status.

Cloud-Hosted or Self-Hosted Single Database

  1. Open your web browser and go to the address bar, typically located at the top of the window.
  2. Enter your library's domain name or IP address, forward slash (/), the name of the module you want to access.
    • yourdomain.com/librarian
    • 123.456.78.910/librarian
    • yoursite.goalexandria.com/librarian
  3. Tap Enter.
  4. On the Log In screen, enter your username and password.
  5. Click Log In.

Centralized or Distributed Catalog

If you’re running Alexandria Controller, enter the serial number for the specific site. you’ll need to follow your (optional) port number with a valid serial number to access a single site (e.g. http://123.456.78.910:80/7777777/librarian); to access the Controller’s “/admin” service, you forego the site-specific serial number (e.g. http://123.456.78.910:80/admin).

  1. Open your web browser and go to the address bar, typically located at the top of the window.
  2. Enter your library's domain name or IP address, colon (:), port number, forward slash (/), the name of the module you want to access.
  3. Tap Enter.
  4. On the Log In screen, enter your username and password.
  5. Click Log In.

Alexandria Controller

To access a single site within your Controller account, enter the serial number for that site's data server.

  1. Open your web browser and go to the address bar, typically located at the top of the window.
  2. Enter library's domain name or IP address, colon (:), port number, forward slash (/), serial number, forward slash (/), the name of the module you want to access.
    • yourdomain.com:portnumber/serialnumber/librarian
    • 123.456.78.910:8080librarian
    • yourdomain.com:80/librarian
  3. Tap Enter.
  4. Open the Alexandria app on your computer browser.
  5. On the Log In screen, enter your username and password.
  6. Click Log In.

To access the Controller Admin module, don't enter the site-specific serial number.


You can locate your Data Station's IP address in Circulation > Special tab > System Info and Tools > Administration > Status.

Need to log in as another operator? This can happens when you need to perform a task that requires a different security group. For example, if a student aid is logged in but you need to change a preference setting, you'll need to log in as an administrator to make those changes.

  1. To view the Log In screen, reload your browser window by clicking F5 or the icon.
  2. Enter your username and password.
  3. Click Log In.

Accessing Online Interfaces & Modules

You can access the different Alexandria modules by adding the name of the module to your login URL. To access the different modules of Alexandria through your web browser, enter your server domain name or IP address, port number (optional), and serial number of your Data Station (optional), followed by forward slash (/) and the name of the online module you want to access into the address bar of your web browser. For example:  http://123.456.78.910:80/preferences

  • yourdomain.com:portnumber/serialnumber/module
