When adding a patron, the Password field is set by default to the last name of the patron. The Username field is set by default to the patron's barcode. This is the information that is required for patrons to place their own holds and reservations etc. from the Researcher.

Both usernames and passwords may be modified by a librarian from the Patron Management window.
To modify a username or password from Patron Management:
- Unlock the record.
- Change the Username field.
- In version 6, click Reset Password.
- Enter a new password and password confirmation.
- Save the record.
If they are allowed, a patron may modify their username and password from the Researcher Patron Status. By changing both, patrons have more control over the security of their information.
For a patron to modify a username or password from the Researcher, the patron must:
- Click on the Log In button at the top of the Researcher window.
- Enter Username or Barcode and Password and click the Log In button.
- Click on their name or icon at the top of the window to open Patron Status.
- Click on Change Contact Info and enter their Password, then they can change the Username.
- Click on Change Password and enter their Old Password, New Password, then verify the new password.
- Press Save to change their password.
